Camp Essentials

  • Don't forget your sleeping bag and a cozy pillow for a good night's sleep.

  • Please remember the principle of modesty when choosing clothing and bathing suits to bring.

Pack enough clothes for the duration of the camp, including t-shirts, shorts, socks, underwear, swimsuit and sleepwear. Be sure to bring a light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings.

  • We know clothing includes socks, but extra socks are so important that they deserve their own shoutout. Bring them!

  • Sneakers, shoes, sturdy sandals or hiking boots. You should have at least one extra pair. Flip-flops are okay for going to the pool, showers and relaxing around the campsite, but are not suitable for activities.

  • Ensuring your health and well-being during your time at camp necessitates having the necessary medications on hand. However, please be aware that individuals under the age of 18 are prohibited from holding oral medications, including over-the-counter (OTC) variants, within the cabins. In the case of minors requiring medication, the nurse will gather these during check-in and administer them at the designated times.

    • Prescription medications must be in the original container with the minor's name and instructions on it.

    • Nonprescription, OTC medications taken by a minor may be brought to Camp Tabarsi and given to the nurse at check-in.

    • Please label the OTC medication with the minor's name and provide written instructions for its use.

    • Camp Tabarsi does have first aid supplies and common OTC medications for minor injuries and common, minor illnesses.

    • Parents will be called before any OTC medications are administered or in the case of an injury requiring first-aid.

  • Pack your swimsuit for pool or lake activities. One piece or tankini swimsuits for females are suggested.

  • Remember to pack essentials like toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen, and insect repellent.

  • Bring both bath towels and a towel for swimming and water activities.

  • Bring eyeglasses, or contact lenses and their respective cases.

  • Stay hydrated during camp activities with a refillable water bottle.

  • A handy flashlight will come in useful during evening activities and navigating around the campsite at night. Bring extra batteries!

  • Sometimes it rains and we want you to stay dry!

  • It can get very cool at night!

  • Most importantly, bring an open mind and a positive attitude to make the most out of the camp experience!

Tip: Check the weather forecast for the camp's location (Ottsville, PA) and pack appropriate clothing and footwear. Layers are usually a good idea. A raincoat is always welcome.

Nice Things to Bring

  • Protect yourself from the sun's rays with a hat and sunglasses.

  • Not essential, but if you play an instrument, bringing it along can be a great way to connect with others

  • If you have a favorite stuffed animal or something that helps you sleep better, bring it along for comfort.

  • Capture all the fun moments and memories with a camera or smartphone

  • If there's downtime, consider bringing a book, journal, prayer book or a small game to keep yourself entertained.

  • A prayer book from your faith tradition.

Tip: The goal is to have a comfortable and enjoyable experience without being burdened by unnecessary items. Focus on the items that will enhance your camp experience rather than clutter it.

Do Not Bring

  • All campers and counselors are required to sleep in communal cabins. Participants will not be permitted to sleep in personal tents.

  • Since meals are provided, campers are not allowed to have food or snacks in their tents or backpacks.

However, if your camper has specific food requirements (such as due to allergies), and you'd like to help the kitchen staff by providing certain food items, please bring those items to camp, and discuss with the directors or kitchen lead upon arrival.

  • Food Hall has this covered

  • Camp Tabarsi does not have a camp store or offer additional activities that require cash

  • We strongly suggest that cell phones be left at home. There are procedures in place to communicate with parents as necessary.

If cell phones are brought to camp, there will be a cell phone policy that will be decided by community consultation at the beginning of Camp Tabarsi. Once created, all campers and counselors will be required to abide by the policy.

All other electronic devices (portable game systems, bluetooth speakers) should stay home.

  • Expensive jewelry, valuable electronics, and other items of high value are best left at home to prevent loss or damage

  • Unless explicitly approved for emotional support by Camp Tabarsi staff ahead of camp, pets are not allowed at Camp Tabarsi.

  • Do not bring flammable items such as fireworks, lighters, or matches to the camp, as they can pose a fire hazard.

  • Prank items that could potentially harm or distress others are not appropriate for a camp setting.

  • Please remember the principle of modesty when choosing clothing and bathing suits to bring.

Clothing with offensive or inappropriate graphics, slogans, or messages should not be brought to camp

  • Under no circumstances should any type of weapon be brought to a sleepaway camp. This includes firearms, knives, sharp objects, or any other potentially harmful items.

  • Any illegal drugs, alcohol, substances, or controlled substances should never be brought to camp. This includes recreational drugs, prescription medications that aren't yours, or any substances that are not approved by the camp's medical staff.

  • Always check with the camp organizers regarding any items that are not allowed due to safety or policy reasons.

Tip: Remember to label your belongings with your name, as items can easily get mixed up during camp activities. With this packing list in hand, you're all set for an unforgettable weekend full of adventure, new friendships, and amazing experiences at Camp Tabarsi!
